Chinese Lanterns at Chestnut Tree House

  • Chinese Lanterns at Chestnut Tree House

Children at Chestnut Tree House made light work of decorating paper lanterns during their summer holiday activity sessions, thanks to local business, The Hanging Lantern Company.

Owner, Rob Payne, only started the Ringmer-based business in 2009 and has already manufactured and imported over 200,000 lanterns from his own factory in China, to supply, amongst others, Selfridges & Co. in London, Lincolnshire County Council for their New Year celebrations, Radley & Co for all of their flagship retail stores, Fifteen (Jamie Oliver’s restaurant) and 150 of their lanterns were recently featured in the BBC’s Sherlock series.

Rob wanted to support a local charity and so chose Chestnut Tree House, the children’s hospice for Sussex. The company donates 3% of all orders to the charity and has so far raised in excess of £2800.00.

Said Chestnut Tree House Play Therapist, Clare Slater, “The children loved decorating their lanterns with paint and brightly coloured paper and they look wonderful hanging up in our play area. Thank you so much to The Hanging Lantern Company for supporting the hospice and bringing some light and laughter to Chestnut Tree House!

I think you will agree that they look fab and the children really enjoyed doing them, infact some of the lanterns ended up going home with the child after they had decorated them, they really did go down a storm with them.
