BBC One’s DIY SOS - Worksop
DIY SOS on Wednesday 13th February 2013 saw Nick and the team transform a house for a very deserving family in Worksop.
Parents Neil and Rebecca needed a living space that was suitable for their two young children Freya and Ben. Ben suffers with Autism and sleeping difficulties – DIY SOS design the team knew they had to sound proof Ben’s bedroom and remove any visual stimulation that would prevent him getting a good night’s sleep. A sage green wall paint was specially created for Ben’s room whilst his cot was enclosed in a little nook within the room to make him feel safe and create a safe bedtime environment.
Freya’s bedroom on the other hand needed to be the perfect room for a girly-girl who likes pinks, butterflies and dressing up! Freya was given a beautiful bedroom furniture set and The Hanging Lantern Company supplied DIY SOS with some fuchsia paper lanterns hanging either side of her bed. The team assembled a dressing table complete with several pairs of princess shoes.
Even the garden was transformed to give Freya and Ben a child friendly place to play with two tipis being erected covered in strings mini lanterns in bright colours – perfect for any child to play hide and seek in!
Gabrielle Blackman as always headed up the design for Neil and Rebecca’s transformation and writes a blog on each DIY SOS episode here:http://gabrielleblackman.com/
