Our in-house design and laser studio created bespoke Moroccan themed hanging lanterns to dress the entrance and gift shop area at KEW Gardens for their summer spice event.
Throughout the summer, from May to September, Kew gardens transformed their site into a festival of spices from around the world with thousands of visitors flocking to see the colours, entertainment and learn about the origins of these ingredients which are used so widely in the 21st Century. A range of activities and workshops were held throughout the season from mixing and creating your own spices, baking spiced bread, exploring the plants from which the spices come from, the production of harvest to create the spices and all whilst learning where these mystical goods come from.
Music and dance performances inspired by the history of spice entertained the crowds in the sunshine and brought the atmosphere of the Eastern world to Sussex.
Kew Gardens creative team contacted our designers, following the success of the Christmas display, requesting design concepts for a Moroccan style hanging lantern. Our designers set to work on ideas inspired by the shapes of traditional oil lamps and spice jars with detailing to reflect patterns seen in clothing and the Moroccan flag. A luxurious, shimmering gold (570gsm) paper was selected to bring the warmth of the sun and spices in a natural earthy tone.
