“I was studying whilst working in London and returned home to see my boyfriend of 4 years, Balint.  To my surprise, this trip home had an unexpected twist and I returned to London a few days later engaged!  I was the happiest ever, but also very sad that I had to come back alone. So sad that I only lasted 2 days before I booked a flight back home to Balint!  Luckily I found a good job in Budapest, so I could still satisfy all of my goals and be with my future husband.”

The hunt for a venue…..
“We quickly started looking for venues.  Returning to Hungary after being in London it was clear that I wanted somewhere close to nature, but struggled to find anywhere suitable.  The pressure of having to book somewhere before Christmas was overwhelming so we made a list of everyone we wanted to invite, thinking it might help us to narrow down the choices.  We needed to host around 200 people so that focused our minds, as there aren’t many venues that could accommodate so many people!  We ended up choosing the first venue we looked at!”

The wedding was to be held in a beautiful 50 acre farm near the Danube (http://bodormajor.hu) and the décor and accessories had to complement the wooden ranch.

And so the wedding planning began….
“My sister was a huge help with the wedding styling, she’s always been interested in fashion and guided me towards certain looks.  We went to wedding shows which were helpful, but most of my inspiration came from foreign websites and Pinterest.”

“I loved the pastel lanterns that I had seen at other beautiful weddings but I couldn’t find any suppliers in Hungary, most supplied dark or vibrant colours. By searching wedding blogs I found The Hanging lantern Company and the colours I loved.”

After supplying lanterns for a wedding at Battersea Power Station, we were able to show Katalin some fabulous images of pastel lanterns clustered down the long entrance hall. Katalin loved them stating that we 'totally got what she meant' regarding the feel and look she wanted to achieve at her summer wedding.

We suggested fishing line was hung between the beams so there were additional hanging points from which the wedding lanterns would be suspended. And, upon receipt of the plans for the ranch advised our small - medium lanterns (8" - 16" diameter) would work best to give the colour pops required whilst allowing the beauty of the venue to shine through.

“With the wedding lanterns being made of paper, it was easy and inexpensive to have them sent to Hungary and we were given instructions in how to put them up ourselves, which was really easy.”

“Our chosen colour scheme of pink, white, robin egg, peach, lavender and yellow complemented the exposed wood and our hanging lanterns highlighted the height and openness of our beautiful venue.”

Katalin “was very happy” with her soft pastel wedding lanterns and speaking with the newlywed after her big day she “wished she and Balint could have a wedding every year!”
